AI, Data Science and Analytics – Career of 21st Century!

AI is the biggest technology revolution of our times. It has potential to disrupt almost all aspects of human existence. Andrew Ng compares the transformational impact of AI to that of electricity 100 years back. Global investments are forecast to achieve a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 50.1% in coming years. Thanks to virtually unlimited computing power and the decreasing costs of data storage organisations are learning to unlock the value trapped in vast volumes of data.

 AI technologies enable machines to act with higher levels of intelligence and emulate the human capabilities of sense, comprehend and act. Computer vision and audio processing can perceive the world around them by acquiring and processing images, sound and speech. The natural language processing and inference engines can enable AI systems to analyse and understand the information collected. AI systems are finding ever-wider application to supplement the human capabilities across enterprises as they grow in sophistication.

Every AI application begins with large amounts of training data. In the past, this kind of performance was driven by rules-based data analytics programs, statistical regressions, and early expert systems. But the explosion of powerful deep neural networks now gives AI the capabilities that a mere program doesn’t have which is the ability to do the unexpected.

As the AI washes over the global economy, it will wipe out billions of jobs up and down the economic ladder : Accountants, Assembly line workers, Warehouse operators, Stock analysts, Quality control inspectors, Truckers, Paralegals, and even Radiologists, just to name a few.

Within 15 years, Artificial Intelligence will technically be able to replace around 40-50% of jobs globally. By 2022, no less than 54% of all employees will require significant re-skilling and up skilling. Of these, about 35% are expected to require additional training of up to six months, 9% will require reskilling lasting six to twelve months, while 10% will require additional skills training of more than a year.

 ·       The World Economic Forum's Future of Work Report 2020 predicts that by 2025, the job with the highest demand and growth will be that of a Data Scientist.

 ·       According to a report shared by the U.S. Bureau of Labour Statistics, Data Science expertise will drive a 27.9 per cent rise in employment and about 11 million jobs will be created by 2026.

 ·       After the United States, India is the second-largest hub for Data Science and Analytics Professionals.

 ·       In India, around 137,870 open jobs were available at the time of reporting in the 1st week of June 2021, according to the analysis carried out by AIMResearch. This is the highest number of analytics jobs advertised in India
